Bartlett Open

Congrats to Scooter Griffith and Jim Sandy on their first place finish their bag weighed in at 12.65lbs and B.F. 5.12lbs.

Saturday, July 20th, 2019

The Bartlett OPEN was a success despite being cancelled in June because of the fire in the area. We had a 60 boat turnout with a few getting turned away. It was a little hot waiting to get going but once on the lake it wasn’t bad. The bluegill bite was really good also as they hammered just about everything you threw out there.(worm stealers) The raffle went well too with a lot of prizes given away. We hope to see you all again next year and hope you enjoyed the tournament.

Apache Lake

Saturday September 16th 2017

The Roostertales Bass Club held its 9th single day tournament of the year on 9/16 at Apache Lake. Water temperatures were till around 80. It was hot. Daytime temps approached 95 degrees. Sixteen teams fished. Thirteen five fish limits were weighed. The team of Peterson and Zahn took first with 16.46# and big fish of 6.03#. Second place was the team of Weir and Burgraff with 14.33# and second big fish of 5.44#. Third went to Redding and Redding with 13.85# and fourth was Jensen/ Chubbuck with 13.64#. Fish were variously caught but dropshot seemed to predominate. As well, it seemed that more fish were taken up river compared to main lake although some of the bigger fish were main lake. Signs from the golden algae kill were not evident. The lake was green-brownish in color, but seemingly healthy based on the results of our tournament.

Our next tournament is on Bartlett Lake on October 14. Our pre- tourney meeting is at Sportsman’s Warehouse Gilbert at 6:30 pm on Monday 10/9.

Canyon Lake (Night)

Saturday August 12th 2017

Clouds and lightning circled us in the distance, but we were not met by a storm. Fifteen teams fished. There were 6 limits. The winners, the team of Weisshaar and Krisher, smoked the rest of the field with a winning weight of 24.46 # and big fish of 9.27#.  Second place went to the husband/wife team of Redding and Redding with 12.72#. Third place was the team of Tucker and Miller with 11.88 # and second big fish of 4.79#. Most of the reports were that the bite really slowed at dusk. Fish were caught both up the river and main lake. Winning presentations included drop shot, crankbaits, and senko. The lake was brownish with scattered dead shad almost everywhere due to the golden algae. However, only one dead game fish was observed.

Our next tournament is a day tournament at Apache Lake September 16. See our website for any updates including the pre-tournament meeting set for 7 pm on Monday 9/ 11.
