Roosevelt Lake

Friday, May 17, 2013

The Roostertales Bass Club fished Saturday May 11 on Roosevelt Lake. There were 20 boats in the tournament. Fifteen boats returned limits. The three biggest bass were 7.17, 6.73, and 4.38 #. The three biggest bags were 15.5, 14,22, and 12.95 #. Water temperatures were around 70 degrees, and fish appeared to be mostly post spawn although there were some bass on beds. In various areas of the lake- both main lake and major creeks- bass were chasing shad along the shorelines. Various patterns worked including topwater, crankbait, jerkbait, senko, spinnerbait, frogs, and worms including dropshot. Although the dropshot bite was solid through the day, the fish were reportedly relatively small compared to the reaction bait fish.

Our next tournament is on June 29 at Bartlett Lake from 6 pm to 2 am. This is our annual Roostertales OPEN tournament. You can sign up on the site under the Memorial Open tab or at the lake prior to the tournament.

Roosevelt Lake

Tuesday, August 14, 2012

Our bass club fished Roosevelt Lake from 5 pm to 1 am on Saturday, August 11th. All teams except one weighed a limit and most boats caught more than 10 fish. The winning team weighed a bag of 14.17#, followed by 10.44#, and 9.68#. Big fish was 6.09#. Fish were caught on various baits but texas rig and drop shot predominated. Fish were found from 30-feet to 5-feet with some of the bigger fish caught shallow. The fish seemed to move up from deep to more shallow during the course of the tournament. Various points, ledges, humps, and brush held fish. Roostertales’ next tournament is at Canyon Lake on Saturday September 22. Our pre-tourney meeting is 7 pm on Monday 9/17 in the second floor meeting room at BassPro.

Roosevelt Lake

Monday, May 21, 2012

The Roostertales Bass Club had their monthly one-day tournament on Saturday, May 19 at Roosevelt Lake. Water temperatures were in the low to mid-70s. It was a beautiful day with light wind. All teams weighed a limit. Most teams were culling through the day with many fish in the 13-inch range caught. It appears some fish are starting to move deeper with fish caught from shoreline to 20-feet. Techniques widely varied, including topwater, senko, fluke, dropshot, crankbait, and jig. The winning bag was slightly over 12#, with the next two bags over 9#. The largest single bass was a largemouth around 4#. The Club’s next tournament is our first evening/night tournament on Bartlett Lake on Saturday, June 9. If you have interest in fishing our club, our next meeting is Monday, June 4 at 7 pm at the BassPro shop meeting room on the second floor.

Roosevelt Lake

Sunday, August 14, 2011

We fished from 4am to 1pm to avoid the heat that you see this time of the year.  The day started off with a lot of lightning and some rain. It cleared up about 10am and we had sun. The fishing was pretty good for some and so-so for others. The end of the years’ results are taking shape with most of the position still up for grabs.

We also voted on moving this years annual Christmas party from Apache Lake to Saguaro Lake with dinner and awards being in Mesa. More information coming soon.
